Drunken Wedding Reception Brawl Embarrasses Apologetic Groom

A Pennsylvania groom arrested along with six guests after a drunken wedding reception brawl says he's embarrassed about his behavior.

The Reading Eagle reports Nicholas Papoutsis apologized to a Berks County judge and his wife of six months on Monday before his sentencing.

The 31-year-old pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to disperse in a deal with prosecutors and was sentenced to two years of probation. His brother and a friend also pleaded guilty to lesser charges and got probation. Another guest took a plea deal in July.

It took 25 police officers from a dozen departments to break up the June 20 fight in Reading. The bride was treated for alcohol poisoning and four officers were treated for injuries.

The three remaining defendants were in court Monday but had their cases continued.
