Police Use #GetaRoom to Detract Couples From Getting Intimate in Bucks County Parks

As the summer months heat up, police in Bucks County have issued a warning to couples “hanging out” in parks after dark.

The Buckingham Township Police Department turned to social media in hopes of stopping public sex in parks.

The department launched the hashtag #GetaRoom on Facebook and Twitter to remind citizens that parks close at dusk and “if you’re found in the parks in a compromising position you’ll definitely be embarrassed, and possibly receive a citation.”

“This happens every year since I’ve been here and I’ve been here for 20 years,” police office manager Theresa Langston said.

#GetaRoom has received a solid amount of attention on social media. Buckingham Police even replied with a tongue-in-cheek response to a Facebook user’s comment about also finding intimate couples while out taking pictures of the sunrise. “Instead of pictures of the sunrise guess you got to see the moon.”
