Charges in Manure Spreader Hit-&-Run

Penn State police have charged a truck driver with leaving the scene after a manure spreader he was hauling ran over a pedestrian at the university's Ag Progress Days in August.

Online court records don't list an attorney for 36-year-old Scott Ridenour, of Greencastle, who faces a preliminary hearing Wednesday on charges filed last week.

The Centre Daily Times reports the pedestrian -- who police aren't identifying -- suffered a broken hip in the Aug. 15 accident.

Police say in a complaint that Ridenour didn't report the accident to police, but called his employer who told him not to stop. Police Chief Tyrone Parham also isn't identifying the employer, but tells the newspaper police haven't charged the employer and don't plan to file any additional charges.

“It would be inappropriate for us to name the defendant’s employer since they were not charged,” Parham told the paper.
