Just a few days before the anniversary of President John F. Kennedy's assassination, an image of the late president appeared in the field near Verona, Italy on Wednesday, Nov. 11. It wasn't the work of some spirit or alien life-form, but instead the creation of Italian land artist Dario Gambarin.

Gambarin used a tractor trailer to create the 492-foot-wide portrait of JFK with the words "Ich bin ein Berliner" inscribed next to it. Gambarin explained the title as a quote from Kennedy's June 26, 1963 West Berlin Speech. He said it took him around 5 or six hours to draw the portrait, which happens to be one of many famous faces he has reproduced, including that of Pope Francis, President Barack Obama and Edvard Munch's "The Scream."

Nov. 22 will mark the 50th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy's assassination. A commemoration event will be held at Dealey Plaza in Dallas, where Pulitzer Prize-winning author David McCullough will read excerpts from Kennedy's speeches. Five years after the President's sudden and unexpected death, public skepticism and conspiracy theories still linger around who killed Kennedy.
