  • A new study confirms what some of us have long suspected: Dogs are just as smart as kids. The average pooch is just as smart as a 2-year-old child. A dog can understand up to 250 words and gestures, can count up to five and do simple math. Border collies and retrievers are among the smartest dogs but the research showed even the average dog is more intelligent than previously thought.
     
  • General Motors is planning to hawk its new cars on eBay. Roughly 225 of California's 250 GM dealers will participate in the trail program that will allow users to bid on Buick, Chevy, GMC and Pontiac models on the online auction site. The plan is part of its turnaround strategy.
     
  • A baby that was declared dead after it was born 16 weeks premature awoke in time for his funeral. The family of the baby born in Paraguay was given a death certificate and a cardboard box to serve as a coffin with the child's name on it. The baby woke up hours later as his family was in the middle of funeral plans. He is now in stable condition in an incubator.
     
  • A flying frog and the first new monkey to be found in more than a century are among 350 new species discovered in the Himalayas in the past decade. The rare animals, found in the eastern Himalayas, are at risk since their habitats are being destroyed and illegal poaching is rampant. The world's smallest deer, a limbless amphibian and a rare blue flower were also among those found.
