A guy busted for a little bit of weed got in a heap of trouble after allegedly going for a joy ride in a cop car.

James Bolton was arrested by Ridley Township Police around midnight Wednesday on disorderly conduct charges after police allegedly found marijuana in his car. He spent the night in jail before being released around 6:30 a.m.

There was a problem -- he had no ride after police impounded his vehicle.

So, Bolton pulled a "Pineapple Express" and allegedly stole a cop car that was parked out front of the Ridley Township Police station.

So began the saga of Mr. Bolton and Cruiser 23. Here's the story.

Bolton walked out of the police station early Wednesday morning and allegedly approached the cruiser.

“He went out the side door and just jumped in and took off,” said Ridley police. The vehicle, which had a shotgun locked up in the back, wasn’t running, but the keys were left inside.

Bolton allegedly turned on the car and drove off.

Upper Darby Police spotted and stopped cruiser 23, a dark red Ford Explorer, later Wednesday morning.

Bolton allegedly didn't cooperate once he was stopped. He refused to get out of the Escort and was laughing at police, they said.

Bolton resisted further and had to be tased before his arrest, said cops.

Bolton remained silent after the judge held him on $500 thousand bail. When asked what he had to say, Bolton obliviously responded, “About everything?”

“Who knows why he did it,” said Ridley Township Police. “We’re just thankful no one was hurt."

Bolton faces various charges including grand theft auto, weapons and resisting arrest.

For his part, the 36-year-old suspect denied his involvement in the joy ride when asked by NBCPhiladelphia's Deanna Durante.
