Keep Those Plants on a Leash: Philadelphia Celebrates Take Your Houseplant for a Walk Day

Do not be surprised if you see people out "walking" their spider plants Monday.

Philadelphia residents can celebrate "Take Your Houseplants for a Walk Day" at two of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society's pop up gardens located at 15th and South Streets and 9th and Wharton Streets.

During the event -- which begins at 6 p.m. -- guests can consult houseplant experts, get plant care tips and repotting assistance.

According to Examiner.com, the holiday was created to bring wellness to plants and give them a better sense of their environment.

Monday's festivities are a part of the PHS summer garden programs. During these special events, gardeners enjoy planting workshops, tree planting, yoga, beer, and more. The PHS Harvest Fest will take place later this year starting Sept. 18.
