Man Holds Girlfriend's Head Underwater After Fight Outside Berks County Hookah Lounge: Police

A man was jailed on charges he tried to drown his girlfriend near an eastern Pennsylvania hookah lounge.

Cumru Township police said 29-year-old Tyler Heagy, of Lebanon, argued with the woman and others outside the Fumo Hookah Lounge on E Wyomissing Avenue about 2 a.m. Sunday. The township is about 50 miles northwest of Philadelphia.

Police said Heagy was talking with another man before he "became enraged and verbally assaulted" his girlfriend. They said he punched her in the face when she tried to defuse the situation, then dragged her to a nearby pond by her ankles after she rejected his apology.

Police said Heagy was holding the woman's head under water until another man intervened and she got away.

Online records don't list an attorney for Heagy who's charged with attempted homicide and other crimes.
