Substitute Teacher Performed Lewd Act in School, Then Went to Class: Police

A 72-year-old substitute teacher at a Connecticut high school is accused of masturbating in the hallway just as classes began Wednesday, and moments later went to teach in the room where he was assigned.

Stamford Police say a school staffer at Westhill High School was walking past a bank of lockers at about 7:30 a.m. when she noticed a man lying on the ground. She approached him because she thought he was injured, but when she got closer, she saw he had his hand down his pants.

She yelled at him and he ran off to the classroom where he was working for the day, police said.

According to police, the teacher was identified as Michael Luecke, and was pulled from his classroom as authorities investigated the claim.

Police say surveillance video shows him "manipulating the front of his pants" while watching students, and then disappearing behind some lockers.

The video shows six students pass by him while he was performing the lewd act, police said.

He is charged with public indecency, breach of peace and risk of injury to a minor. Authorities did not immediately have attorney information.

Police said his clothes were taken for evidence and he was given jail-issued clothing.

Stamford school officials say the teacher has no complaints on record and has been a substitute in  Stamford since 2009.

The district said he passed all of the screenings required for substitute teachers.
