Man Poses as Officer While Stalking Ex-Wife

A western Pennsylvania man has been sentenced to at least two years in state prison for stalking his ex-wife and pretending to be a police officer in the process.

The (Johnstown) Tribune-Democrat reports 35-year-old George Lane, of Portage, was charged with sending harassing emails to his ex-wife at work. That began just days after he was released from the Cambria County Prison on an earlier stalking-related sentence for damaging his ex-wife's car and several others where she worked.

Lane eventually also called his ex at work, posing as someone else, to tell her he had been killed in a car crash that caused him to be disemboweled by a tree. He called yet again pretending to be the Portage Borough police chief, claiming to be investigating the earlier false report.
