Repeat Robber 16 Years for Striking Same New Jersey Shoe Store, Worker 15 Years Apart

An ex-con who admitted he returned to the scene of the crime that put him away for 15 years will serve 16 more years behind bars for striking the same worker a second time.

A judge in Ocean County sentenced Christopher Miller to 16 years behind bars after Miller pleaded guilty to second-degree robbery earlier this year.

Prosecutors said the 41-year-old had completed a 15-year prison term for robbing the Stride Rite store in Toms River when he returned the day after his release and committed the same crime in March 2014.

Miller made off with $389 and fled on foot with employees' cellphones, said police.

The clerk, who had been notified about Miller's release, identified the suspect as the same person who had robbed the store in 1999.
