NJ Man Pleads Guilty to Punching Dr. Love

Man admits that he broke a doctor's nose during an ER altercation

A Gloucester County man could face up to 18 months in prison after pleading guilty to punching a New Jersey emergency room doctor.

Michael Biernacki, 29, of the 100 block of Florence Avenue in Westville, N.J. pleaded guilty to third-degree assault Monday after punching Dr. Thomas Love inside Underwood-Memorial Hospital’s emergency room on July 4, 2010, county prosecutors said.

Love suffered multiple fractures to his nose as he tried to intervene in an altercation between nurses and Biernacki, officials said.

Biernacki told Judge M. Christine Allen-Jackson that he hit Dr. Love after he and his brother went to the ER following an auto crash, according to officials.

Biernacki could serve up to 18 months in state prison when he is sentenced March 5, prosecutors said.
