450-Pound Man Hid Marijuana in Stomach Fat: Deputies

A 450-pound Florida man was arrested after deputies say they found marijuana hidden in his stomach fat during a traffic stop.

Christopher Mitchell, 42, was arrested Friday and charged with cannabis possession after he was pulled over for not wearing a seat belt, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said.

When a deputy pulled over Mitchell and the driver of the car, Mitchell said he was "simply too large" to wear the safety belt, according to the arrest report obtained by First Coast News.

Mitchell and the driver seemed nervous during the stop, so the deputy brought in a drug-detecting K-9, which was quickly alerted to the presence of drugs, the report said.

About 23 grams of marijuana was found in Mitchell's stomach fat, the report said. Some cocaine was also found, in addition to a handgun and $7,000 in cash stuffed in a tube sock, the report said.

The driver, 38-year-old Keithian Roberts, was charged with possession of cocaine.
