Facebook Outage Frustrates Would-Be Users

What did the world do without the chance to post to Facebook? In some cases, tweet.

Did you want to update your status or check up on your friends' weekends first thing Monday morning? Well, too bad.

Much of Facebook was down Monday morning, preventing some users from signing in and others from posting to their Walls — and sending many of them griping to other social media outlets. But service began to come back for some users after 9 a.m. ET and for more of them around 10:30 a.m. ET.

Facebook confirmed the outage after it had ended and said all was now well.

Earlier this morning, while performing some network maintenance, we experienced an issue that prevented some users from posting to Facebook for a brief period of time. We resolved the issue quickly, and we are now back to 100%. We're sorry for any inconvenience we may have caused.

During the outage, the message for some users signing on was, "Facebook is down for required maintenance right now." Other users were in the clear until they tried to post. "The message could not be posted to this Wall," came the message in response.

Many of the frustrated would-be Facebook posters took to Twitter to complain, some good-naturedly.
