Battie Back With Sixers

76ers re-sign veteran center to 1-year deal

The 76ers brought back a veteran presence in the middle, the team announced Monday.

Center Tony Battie, a veteran of 13 NBA seasons, is returning for a second season in Philly.

"We are happy to have Tony back with us," Sixers President of Basketball Operations Rod Thorn said. "He will add depth to our frontcourt and his veteran savvy will be invaluable to our locker room."

The 6-foot-11, 240-pounder averaged 2.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and 9.9 minutes per game in 38 regular season appearances last season.
