6 Lucky Winners Headed to Stanley Cup Finals

They won tickets from the mayor after her raffled off his tickets

Six lucky fans are headed to the Stanley Cup Finals to cheer on the Flyers all thanks to the mayor.

The fans, who entered a raffle to use Mayor Michael Nutter's box at the Wachovia Center, learned Tuesday they would be able to see the Fly Guys battle the Chicago Blackhawks for Lord Stanley's Cup.

The mayor's office randomly selected Sam Kim (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Casey Snyder (Hatboro, Pa.) for Game 3, Courtney Walter (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Tom McPhee (Norwood, Pa.) for Game 4, and, depending on how the Flyers do, Krystina Whitehouse (Dresher, Pa.) and Angie Estevez (Middletown, D.E.) during Game 6.

Participants had to answer the following question via email to Mayor Nutter: โ€œWhich former Flyer holds the NHL record for the most power play goals in a single season?โ€

For Flyers fans who are not as well-versed in the stats -- the answer is Tim Kerr.  If you checked NBCPhiladelphia.com during the duration of the competition, hopefully you used the link we provided with the correct response!

Nearly 2,000 fans emailed Mayor Nutter's office, and of that group, 1,666 had the right answer.

All correct responses received numbers according to the time when they were received.  A computer then randomly generated the numbers of the 6 winners.

Mayor Nutter has some experience dishing out these coveted tix -- he held similar raffles for the Philadelphia Phillies for the 2008 and 2009 World Series games.

As a show of Brotherly Love from Mayor Nutterโ€™s office, Flyers fans who entered the contest didnโ€™t have to live in Philadelphia.

Can the Blackhawks compete with that kind of generosity?  We didnโ€™t think so.
