Ben Simmons, Markelle Fultz Behind Lonzo Ball in Rookie of Year Odds

Lonzo Ball is the NBA Rookie of the Year favorite, with just slightly shorter odds than Ben Simmons.

Ball's odds were 5/2 in Bovada's first release following Thursday's NBA draft.

Simmons is just behind at 3/1.

Markelle Fultz is third at 5/1.

It makes sense that Ball is ahead of Simmons and Fultz because he's in a situation where he'll surely put up numbers. The Lakers have less talent surrounding Ball than the Sixers have surrounding Simmons and Fultz, who could both be productive enough to cancel each other out.

We could very well see a situation next summer where the Sixers have two of the three Rookie of the Year finalists, just like they do this summer. Joel Embiid, Dario Saric and Milwaukee's Malcolm Brogdon are the three candidates in play for the award on June 26.
