A Hos-toric Debut: Rhys Hoskins' rookie season by the numbers

Not Babe Ruth. Not Ted Williams. Not Mike Schmidt.

If you want to go more modern day, not Miguel Cabrera or Mike Trout, or even Aaron Judge.

None of those players have done what Phillies rookie Rhys Hoskins is doing. We are witnessing history in the making, and there are still 18 games left on the season.

With the two home runs he added Tuesday night, balls that traveled an estimated 844 feet combined, Hoskins stands at 16 home runs. That's in 32 games. He wasn't brought up until Aug. 10. He also has 34 RBIs. These are not misprints. Keep in mind he began his major league career 0 for 10, too.

Let's take a long drive, deep into the numbers for Hoskins. Watch these babies because they are way outta here.

    • Fastest player to hit 16 HR in MLB history (32 games).

    • MLB record for most homers after making debut Aug. 1st or later. Previous mark held by Ted Williams with 13 in 1953.

    • Courtesy of CSN's Dan Roche, by comparison here is the number of games it took these all-timer's to reach 16 homers: Hank Aaron (137), Mike Schmidt (115), Barry Bonds (103), Willie Mays (55).

    • Third fastest player to gather 34 RBIs in 32 games: Ted Williams (36), Albert Pujols (35) (h/t MLB.com's Todd Zolecki).

    • Since his 0 for 10 start: .327 avg, 16 HR, 34 RBIs, .449 OBP, .827 SLG

    • He is tied for third on the Phillies in home runs: Tommy Joseph (21), Maikel Franco (20), Aaron Altherr (16). At-bats: Joseph - 470, Franco - 525, Altherr - 312, Hoskins - 114.

    • Counting Triple A stats (Lehigh Valley), Hoskins has 45 total home runs, second most in professional baseball behind Giancarlo Stanton with 54.

    • Projected power numbers over 162 games: 81 HR, 172 RBIs.
