NEW YORK -- Anders Lee scored the tiebreaking goal with 27 seconds remaining to lift the New York Islanders to a 5-3 victory over the defending champion Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday night.
Thomas Hickey fired a slap shot from the point that deflected off Lee's stick and past goalie Matt Murray to help the Islanders recover after giving up a three-goal lead in the third period.
With Murray pulled on the ensuing faceoff, Nikolay Kulemin scored into the empty net 3 seconds later to give the Islanders consecutive victories for the second time this season.
Johnny Boychuk, Jason Chimera and Casey Cizikas also scored for the Islanders, and Thomas Greiss made 31 saves. They led 3-0 after two periods.
Conor Sheary, Justin Schultz and Evgeni Malkin scored in the first 13:08 of the third period for the Penguins. Murray finished with 25 saves while starting for the third time in four games (see full recap).
Sharks continue dominance over Kings
LOS ANGELES -- Logan Couture had two goals and an assist, Ryan Carpenter scored his first NHL goal and the San Jose Sharks extended their recent mastery over the Los Angeles Kings with a 4-1 victory Wednesday night.

Kevin Labanc also scored and Martin Jones made 26 saves against his former team in the Pacific Division-leading Sharks' fifth win in six games. Couture and Carpenter scored 30 seconds apart in the final minute of the first period, and Los Angeles couldn't recover from that defensive lapse.
Dustin Brown scored for the Kings, whose five-game winning streak ended with another frustrating night against their upstate rivals.

Flames shut out Maple Leafs
CALGARY, Alberta -- Freddie Hamilton and Kris Versteeg scored in the first minute and Chad Johnson made 39 saves in the Calgary Flames' 3-0 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday night.
Hamilton one-timed a centering pass from Micheal Ferland past Jhonas Enroth high on the glove side for his first of the season 19 seconds in. Thirty seconds later, Versteeg buried his third of the season. Sean Monahan was initially stopped from the slot, but Enroth kicked the rebound to Versteeg.
Calgary scored twice in the opening minute for the first time since March 11, 1987 against the Hartford Whalers. The last time any NHL team did it was Philadelphia against the New York Islanders on April 9, 2011.
Johnson has started eight of the last 10 games, going 6-2-0 with a 1.50 goals-against average, a .951 save percentage and a career-best three shutouts (see full recap).
