Snap Counts: Dorial Green-Beckham Gets Starter-type Reps

No, Dorial Green-Beckham wasn't on the field when the Eagles took their first offensive snap on Sunday in Washington.

But he got a starter-like load of snaps.

Green-Beckham, who the Eagles acquired during training camp and brought along slowly, played 42 of the Eagles' 52 offensive snaps (81 percent) on Sunday. During the first five weeks of the season he's gone from 32 percent to 46 to 49 to 52 and now 81.

While Jordan Matthews led the Eagles' receivers in snaps with 47, DGB and Nelson Agholor had 42 apiece. Who's the odd man out? Well, Josh Huff had just nine snaps.

Zach Ertz played 46 snaps (88 percent) on Sunday, but had just one catch and was targeted just three times. And those three targets all came in the fourth quarter. Of course, Ertz was asked to stay in and block a little bit more against Washington because the Eagles started a rookie right tackle.

Speaking of Halapoulivaati Vaitai, he played all 52 snaps with the rest of the starting offensive line. And despite taking five sacks, Carson Wentz was able to play all 52 as well.

Darren Sproles led the way for the running backs with 23 snaps. Ryan Mathews had 11, Wendell Smallwood 10, Kenjon Barner 8.

On the defensive side of the ball, Jim Schwartz's unit played a season-high 74 snaps on Sunday.

The most notable thing is that Jordan Hicks and Nigel Bradham played all 74, which means they didn't ever leave the field in nickel situations like they did against the Lions in that weird rotation. Mychal Kendricks was back to being a base player. He played 22 snaps, while cornerback Ron Brooks took his place in the nickel and played 52.

Vinny Curry was again the low man among the top three defensive ends. He got 31 snaps to Connor Barwin's 60 and Brandon Graham's 57. Through five games, Barwin has 236, Graham 225 and Curry 121.

Curry said this week that because he's now completely over an MCL sprain, he expected to gain more snaps. Didn't happen on Sunday.

With Bennie Logan's groin injury, Beau Allen played 43 snaps and Destiny Vaeao played 28.
