Roob Stats: Numbers Behind LeGarrette Blount's Beastly Performance

We begin this week's Roob Stats with a few notes on LeGarrette Blount's 16-carry, 133-yard performance Sunday:

• With 133 rushing yards at 30 years and 301 days old, Blount became the oldest Eagle ever to rush for at least 130 yards in a game. The previous oldest player to run for 130 yards was Brian Westbrook, who ran for 167 yards against the Falcons at 29 years, 54 days.

• Blount's 8.5 average is highest by an Eagle with 15 or more carries since Bryce Brown was 19 for 178 (9.4 average) vs. the Panthers in 2012.

• Blount is the first NFL player in his 30s to rush for 130 or more yards with an average of 8.5 or higher since another Eagle did it seven years ago. Michael Vick averaged 13.0 yards a carry (10 for 130) against the Giants in 2010 in the huge comeback win at MetLife Stadium.

• Blount's 68-yard run from scrimmage was the longest run by an Eagle since Brian Westbrook's 71-yarder against the 49ers in 2006. It was the longest fourth-quarter run by an Eagle since Brian Mitchell's 85-yarder against the Falcons in 2000.

• And finally this: Blount's run was the longest non-scoring run by an Eagle in 38 years, since Leroy Harris had an 80-yarder against the Packers in 1979.

And some notes on new kicker Jake Elliott …

• With his 53-yard field goal a week after his record-setting 61-yarder, Elliott became the first Eagles kicker to make a 50-yarder in consecutive weeks since Tom Dempsey in 1971. Dempsey made a 54-yarder vs. Detroit and then a 50-yarder vs. Giants.

• Elliott made four field goals in all Sunday, from 40, 45, 47 and 53 yards. He's the first Eagle to make four field goals from 40 yards or more in a game since David Akers against the Bears in 2004 (40, 42, 42, 51) and the second ever.

• Elliott is also only the third kicker in Eagles history with at least two career field goals from 53 yards and out. David Akers made three (in 188 games) and Caleb Sturgis made three (in 30 games). Elliott has two in three games. Despite playing just three games in an Eagles uniform, he's responsible for two of the 12-longest field goals in franchise history.

And a few Zach Ertz notes:

• With his five catches for 81 yards, Ertz now has 26 catches for 326 yards in four games. Only seven other tight ends in NFL history have reached those benchmarks four games into a season: Don Stonesifer (in 1953), Ben Coates, Jimmy Graham, Jordan Cameron, Jason Witten, Dallas Clark and Antonio Gates.

• Ertz's 273 receptions are seventh-most ever by a tight end in his first 65 games, behind Kellen Winslow Sr. (348), Kellen Winslow Jr. (320), Jimmy Graham (316), Rob Gronkowski (308), Antonio Gates (298) and Mike Ditka (280).

• Ertz's 3,166 receiving yards are also eighth-most by a tight end in his first 65 games, behind the same seven guys.

Some stuff on the Eagles' running game:

• The Eagles have consecutive games with 12 or more rushing first downs for the first time since Week 4 & 5 of the 1994 season, when they had 13 vs. the 49ers and 14 vs. the Redskins.

• With 193 rushing yards against the Giants and 214 against the Chargers, the Eagles have consecutive games with 190 or more rushing yards for the first time since 2011 (192 vs. the Redskins, 239 vs. the Cowboys) but only the third time since 1994. Last time they had three straight such games was in 1978.

• Similarly, with 39 and 42 rushing attempts the last two weeks, this is the first time they've had 39 or more runs in back-to-back games since 2008 -- 40 in the Thanksgiving Day win over the Cards and then 42 vs. the Giants -- and only the second time since 1994.

And some more random stuff:

• With the Chiefs' win over the Redskins Monday night, Andy Reid and his former assistant coaches have a combined 17-7 record this year:
4-0 Andy Reid, Chiefs
3-1 Doug Pederson, Eagles
3-1 Ron Rivera, Panthers
3-1 Sean McDermott, Bills
2-2 Todd Bowles, Jets
2-2 John Harbaugh, Ravens

And considering that there have been three games where those guys coached against each other -- Reid beat Pederson, Rivera beat McDermott, McDermott beat Bowles -- Reid and his staff are actually 14-4 against coaches who are not part of the Andy Reid coaching tree.

• The Eagles have allowed 52 fourth-quarter points so far. Only 18 teams in NFL history have allowed more fourth-quarter points through four games. Only one of those 18 made the playoffs [1980 Vikings].

The Eagles are the fourth team in history to allow 52 fourth-quarter points through four games and have a winning record. The 1980 49ers, 1970 Packers, and 1985 Cards were also 3-1.

• Philip Rivers entered Sunday's game with the highest passer rating ever against the Eagles at 127.4 (minimum of 50 attempts) and even though that figure dropped to 120.2, it's still the highest ever against the Eagles. The next-highest QBs are Peyton Manning (114.6), Joe Montana (113.7), Matt Cassel (113.4), Milt Plum (110.8) and Bart Starr (110.3).

The next-highest active QBs are Aaron Rodgers (104.4), Andy Dalton (104.0), Matt Stafford (101.0), Russell Wilson (98.6) and Kirk Cousins (97.8).

• The Eagles had time of possession 37:32 against the Giants and 39:18 vs. the Chargers. This is only the second time in 20 years they've been at 37:30 or higher in consecutive games. They also did it against the Cowboys and Redskins in 2011.

• Corey Clement converted three first downs on the Eagles' final drive. He's the first Eagle with three rushing first downs in the final seven minutes of a game since Dion Lewis did it against the Redskins the last day of the 2011 season.

• The Eagles allowed 14 fourth-quarter points in Kansas City, 24 to the Giants and 14 to the Chargers. This is the first time in franchise history they've given up 14 or more fourth-quarter points in three straight games.

• With Eli Manning's 77-yard touchdown pass to Sterling Shepard and Rivers' 75-yarder to Tyrell Williams, the Eagles have allowed TD passes of 75 or more yards in consecutive games for the first time in 52 years. In 1965, Jerry Rhome threw an 82-yarder to Hall of Famer Bobby Hayes in an Eagles win over the Cowboys at the Cotton Bowl, and a week later Earl Morrall completed an 89-yarder to Homer Jones for the Giants in a win over the Eagles at Yankee Stadium.

• The Eagles have allowed seven TD passes of 75 yards or more in their last 49 games. They allowed five in their previous 240 games.
