Report: Eagles Have Interest in Pending Free Agent CB A.J. Bouye

The NFL's legal tampering period is underway and the Eagles are jumping in.

According to a report from NJ.com, the Eagles have interest in pending free-agent cornerback A.J. Bouye. Bouye was on this list of 10 possible cornerback fits (see story).

Bouye is just 25 and will possibly get a bigger contract than any other cornerback on the market after just one really good season. He started 11 games and had one interception.

The former undrafted corner from UCF is going to require a big payday, so the Eagles will have to really think long and hard about whether or not Bouye fits into their plans. As of Tuesday, the Eagles had slightly under $8.5 million in cap space, according to the NFLPA.

In the last few months, Eagles vice president of football operations Howie Roseman has preached about not finding Band-Aids, especially at the cornerback position. In the past, the Eagles have splashed in free agency to sign guys like Nnamdi Asomugha and Byron Maxwell.

It will be interesting to see what kind of market a top guy like Bouye has in free agency because of the depth at the cornerback position in the draft. It's considered by many to be the deepest in decades.
