Malcolm Jenkins Named NFC Defensive Player of the Week

Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins picked up his second Player of the Week award Wednesday for his performance in the Eagles' win over the Giants Thursday night at the Linc.

Jenkins became the first Eagle since Dimitri Patterson at Washington in 2010 with two interceptions and a touchdown in a game. He became the first Eagle with a two-interception game since the 2012 opener, when both Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Kurt Coleman did it in Cleveland.

It was the second two-INT game of Jenkins' career. He had two interceptions off Sam Bradford - including a pick-six - in the Saints' 31-13 win over the Rams at the Superdome in 2010.

Jenkins now has six career interception return touchdowns, eighth-most in NFL history by a safety and tied for second-most in the NFL by an active player, behind Aqib Talib's nine.

In Eagles history, only Eric Allen - with five - has more INT returns for touchdown than Jenkins.

Jenkins' ratio of six interception return touchdowns on 14 career interceptions is the second-highest in NFL history among players with at least 10 picks. Captain Munnerlyn of the Vikings has five TDs on 11 career interceptions.

Jenkins was also named NFC Defensive Player of the Week last year for his performance in the Eagles' upset win over the Patriots in Foxboro, Mass., when he had a pick-six against Tom Brady.

Jenkins is the second member of the Eagles' defense honored this year. Fletcher Cox was named Defensive Player of the Month in September.

In his eighth NFL season, Jenkins has now been named NFC Defensive Player of the Week four times, including twice in his five years with the Saints.
