Fletcher Cox Refuses to Let Foot Injury Sideline Him in Eagles' Loss to Saints

NEW ORLEANS - If it were a normal game? Fletcher Cox wouldn't have come back.

If he were a normal human being? Fletcher Cox wouldn't have come back.

In this game? There was no way a potentially serious foot injury was going to keep Cox on the sideline.

Cox twice had to leave Sunday's playoff game against the Saints because of a foot injury, but he willed his way back into the game both times - and made some huge plays hobbling around on one foot.

This is a warrior.

They'd probably have to cut one of my limbs off for me to not be out there," Cox said. "If I'm able to go, then I'll be out there, and these guys know that.

Cox, a four-time Pro Bowler and first-team all-pro this year, talks the talk and he backs it up.

He took the 48-7 loss here to the Saints two months ago personally and raised his level of play the last two months, playing probably the best football of his career.

Sunday was no different. He led a spirited defensive effort that held the Saints to 20 points - two touchdowns less than their 2018 average at home and 29 fewer than they scored against the Eagles in November.

I came back because (playing) is all that matters," Cox said. "The biggest thing we always talk about is being battle tested and guys going down and guys fighting back to get out there. I'll go to war with these guys. I'll do anything for these guys. That's why these guys respect me so much. They were saying, ‘Man, you're really coming back?' Yeah, coming I'm back. I'm ready to go to war.

We throw the word leader around. We throw the word superstar around. We throw the word gamer around.

Cox continues to prove that he is all of the above.
