The Eagles have hired a spy. Sort of.

On Tuesday evening, they signed cornerback De'Vante Bausby, who had been with the Chiefs until final cuts earlier this month, to their practice squad. So he knows the Eagles' Week 2 opponent pretty well.

The Eagles released wideout Greg Ward from the practice squad to make room.

Earlier in the day, they brought back offensive tackle Victor Salako to the practice squad and cut cornerback C.J. Smith to make room.

Bausby, 24, spent time with the Chiefs in the offseason before the 2015 season too, but has never played for them in a regular season game. He has played in four NFL games, coming with the Bears in 2016.

Obviously, the Eagles will try to soak in some of his knowledge of the Kansas City defense heading into Sunday's game.

Bausby, a Pittsburgh State product, has good size at 6-2, 190 pounds.

The Eagles are a little short at cornerback right now after Ronald Darby suffered a dislocated right ankle in the opener against Washington. Defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz declined to disclose the plan for the cornerback position this week; he didn't want to give anything away.
