Eagles One of Eight Teams Eligible for HBO's ‘Hard Knocks'

They haven't made the playoffs in three seasons, they won't have a rookie head coach in 2017 and they've never appeared on the show, so the Eagles are eligible to be selected as the subject of HBO's Hard Knocks this summer.

The Eagles are one of eight teams HBO could pick for the football reality show that spans training camp and the preseason. The others are the Ravens, Bears, Browns, Titans, Colts, Buccaneers and Saints.

If a team fits those three criteria, it can't say no if picked by HBO. The possibility does exist a non-eligible team volunteers, like the Falcons in 2014.

There are interesting elements to some of those teams - the Ravens and Saints each have a Super Bowl-winning QB-head coach tandem, the Titans and Bucs are teams on the rise with young QBs, the Colts have Andrew Luck - but the Eagles may be the most interesting of all.

With Carson Wentz, they have a player to build the show around. With Jim Schwartz, they have a fiery assistant coach capable of making good TV. Lane Johnson, Brandon Graham, Jason Kelce ... no shortage of good quotes in that locker room.

Even though they've had just two winning seasons in the last six, the Eagles always find a way to be one of the most discussed NFL teams of the summer. Philadelphia is obviously a sports-crazed town, and there would be plenty of national interest in the Eagles as well.
