Will the Sixers Win Again This Season? It's Doubtful

The Sixers can't seem to win a game down the stretch. Tony DiLeo's boys have dropped five straight and no relief is in sight.

There are plenty of reasons why the Sixers stink but these are some of the more popular thoughts:

  • They miss their best player Thaddeus Young (sorry Andre Iguodala)
  • Iggy dished out more turnovers (10) than assists (8) in his last game
  • DiLeo has never been a head coach and it showed many times this season

So let's ask a fair question: Will the Sixers win again this season?

They will have six chances to win one more in 08-09. Two regular season games left against Eastern Conference powerhouses -- the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers -- and at least four playoff games against the C's, Cavs or Orlando Magic.

The Sixers have zero chance of beating the Cavs in Cleveland for the regular season finale on Wednesday. LeBron James' team will set the all-time NBA mark for home record (40-1) by disposing of the 76ers so expect just that -- another loss for Philly.

The Sixers should at least have a chance at home against the Celtics. But, the C's still haven't wrapped up the second seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs so they could bring their best against the hapless Sixers.

After most likely losing out the Sixers will crawl into the playoffs as the No. 6, 7 or 8 seed in the East.

Without Young back in the lineup the Sixers should play the role of sacrificial lamb for one of the beasts of the east.

That's right -- expect the streak to stretch to 11-straight losses to end 08-09. Fans can finally take the Sixers' advice to "run with us" right into the offseason.
