What's with Spitting?

Baseball is supposed to be the “elite” sport, so what’s up with all the spitting?

We’re not talking about the fans here; we’re talking about the players. And, trust me, you can find your fav.’s hocking one up on the field---Pat Burrell, Jayson Werth, Jimmy Rollins.

Could it be the new  “drool tool,” helping teams win games??

Local Psychologist, Frank Farley wonders that himself. But, what Dr. Farley really thinks is, spitting has become a habit.

He says these guys need to be more aware of the effect their bad habit has on kids who watch them, look up to them.

“They’re stars, they’re superstars and they’re spitting all over the place,” Farley says.

One local phan admits, “Actually, now my 2 ½ year old is spitting too, maybe it’s because he watches the Phillies.”

Back in the day, players would spit from chewing tobacco, but that isn’t as common anymore.

So, what’s the bottom line here? Truthfully, there isn’t one.

But, Dr. Farley has a thought: “I’m old fashioned, but if I did it my mother would say I’m going to wash your mouth out with soap.”
