Westbrook Suffers Concussion

Eagles Westbrook, Redskins Cooley injured

The Philadelphia Eagles were without one their biggest weapons Monday night after running back Brian Westbrook left the Redskins game with a concussion.

B-West was hurt when he took an inadvertent knee to the head in the first quarter of the game. His helmet collided with linebacker London Fletcher's right knee while B-West was being dragged down by defensive lineman Lorenzo Alexander at the end of a five-yard run.

Westbrook remained on the ground for some time as his brother Byron, who plays for the Skins, remained by his side. After a few minutes B-West was helped up and walked off the field directly to the locker room.

Before going down Westbrook had three carries for 13 yards.

B-West being injured unfortunately is nothing new -- he has never played a full 16-game season and already sat out the Kansas City game earlier this season with an ankle injury.

No. 36 would need to go through tests this week to see if he was ready to play against the Giants Sunday.

"We'll just see. We'll see how he is. I'm not going to put him out there when he's at risk," Eagles Head Coach Andy Reid said.

The Birds coach thinks Westbrook is "going to be all right," added Reid.

B-West wasn’t the only big name hurt in the first half of MNF.

Skins tight end Chris Cooley left in the second quarter with an ankle injury. Neither Westbrook nor Cooley was expected to return.

Philadelphia safety Macho Harris also suffered an ankle injury and receiver DeSean Jackson left to have his foot X-rayed.

Luckily "Action" Jackson and Harris returned to the field in the second half.

The Birds could ill-afford to lose Jackson's big-play ability -- he scored on a 67-yard touchdown run and a 57-yard catch in the first half.
