There were a few surprises on the Eagles inactive list Sunday as running back Brian Westbrook and wide receiver Kevin Curtis both joined quarterback Donovan McNabb as injured players who won’t play against the Chiefs.

Westbrook left last Sunday’s game with an ankle injury. With the bye week on the horizon it was doubtful that the Eagles would want him to risk further injury on a soggy Lincoln Financial Field.

Someone else who could use an extra week to heal was McNabb. in his place Kevin Kolb would start for the second straight week.

As for Curtis, he was battling swelling in his knee, according to the Press of Atlantic City.

With Curtis on the mend, former "No. 1 wideout" Reggie Brown found himself active again for the first time this season.

Curtis’ and Westbrook’s losses proved to be gains for two Eagles rookies as LeSean “Shady” McCoy and Jeremy Maclin both stepped into the starting lineup against Kansas City.

Also inactive for the Eagles Sunday were cornerback Dimitri Patterson, safety Quintin Demps, offensive linemen Mike McGlynn and Todd Herremans and defensive end Jason Babin.

One guy who would take the field Sunday was Michael Vick -- stay tuned to see how that went.
