When It Comes to Backing Up, Vick Rules: ESPN

With Michael Vick behind Donovan McNabb the Eagles have the best one-two punch in the NFC East.

Once Michael Vick is fully reinstated into the NFL he will give the Philadelphia Eagles the best backup quarterback in the NFC East, according to ESPN’s Matt Mosley.

No big surprise there.

Just look at who the Cowboys, Giants and Redskins have holding the clipboard and it’s obvious that the Birds have the most talented backup in the division.

Dallas has the most experienced backup QB in Jon Kitna. The 36-year-old signal caller has started 115 games in the NFL and boasts a career passing rating of 76.6.

Despite his experience Kitna still has never made a Pro-Bowl (a feat Vick achieved three times). But he did do something that Vick never did -- throw for more than 4,000 yards.

New York can claim David Carr as the backup to their multi-million-dollar man Eli Manning.

Carr never made any defenses shake in their shoulder pads but he does share one claim to fame with Vick. Both QBs never lived up to the full hype after being picked No.1 overall in the NFL Draft.

The team with the cloudiest situation at the backup position was Washington where rookie Chase Daniel, young gun Colt Brennan and veteran Todd Collins were battling to backup Jason Campbell.

Collins was penciled in as the Skins No. 2. But none of the possible Washington backups even come close to comparison of Vick.

So any way you shake it from a pure football standpoint the Eagles leaped ahead of their nearest competition by signing Michael Vick.
