Tony & Tiger to Team Up, Tee Off

The Cowboys' quarterback and arguably the best golfer of all time will pair for a pro-am tournament next month

Tony Romo, who has publicly expressed admiration for Tiger Woods in the past, will team up with the tour-pro for 18 holes next month at the Earl D. Woods Memorial Pro-Am at the Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Md.

The tournament is set for July 1, and presents (ostensibly) an opportunity for the pair to talk golf, winning, and dating ultra-hot blond girls.

Interestingly, Woods chose Romo out of a field that includes Redskins quarterback Jason Campbell, receiver Antwaan Randle-El and Bruce Boudreau, head coach of the Washington Capitals; this in the heart of Redskins country.

This has already caused a palpable tremor in the greater DC area.

The Washington Post’s Dan Steinberg asks, rhetorically, “For your Pro-Am playing partner, you're choosing the most-hated player from D.C.'s most-hated team? At an event where the quarterback of D.C.'s most-beloved team, plus a fun-loving beloved coach with a 9 handicap, were also potential playing partners?”

Steinberg has a point.

But if DC fans think they’ve reached the height of incredulity with respect to the Tony Romo show, they’re sorely mistaken.

Romo’s gal-pal Jessica Simpson will sing the National Anthem to kick off the event.

Does anyone else find this vaguely funny?
