The Flyers were without Andrej Meszaros and Kimmo Timonen Sunday night.

Sunday’s 1-0 win in Washington marked the first of what could be a slew of games without two of the Flyers top defensemen on the ice.

Blueliners Kimmo Timonen and Andrej Meszaros could be out for a while.

"Kimmo Timonen and Andrej Meszaros will be out indefinitely with lower body injuries," said general manager Paul Holmgren before Sunday’s game.

Sitting out Sunday night against the Capitals ended Timonen's streak of consecutive games at 248, the Flyers' longest active run. He has two goals and 34 assists in 63 games this season.

Meszaros has seven goals and 18 assists in 62 games this season. He scored on a power play in Philadelphia's previous game, a 6-3 victory over the New York Islanders on Thursday night.

Playing considerable minutes for the Flyers Sunday night were Andreas Lilja and recently recalled Erik Gustafsson. Both defensemen played more than 15 minutes against the Caps.
