The Flyin' Hawaiian Needs Your Vote

Mayor Nutter and Victorino hit the streets for the All-Star vote

The Phillies celebrated Sunday after sending three players and their manager to the All-Star Game, but a fourth teammate could join his buddies as one of the National League All-Stars and you can help put him on the roster.

Centerfielder Shane Victorino was named to the National League All-Star Game Final Vote.

Victorino is battling San Fran’s Pablo Sandoval, Los Angeles’ Matt Kemp, Washington’s Cristian Guzman and Arizona’s Mark Reynolds for the final NL All-Star lineup spot. Fans can vote for the most deserving player by text message or online.

“Suga” Shane did his part to be an All-Star. Through Sunday he batted .300 with a .363 on-base percentage.

He leads the Phils with 13 steals, six triples, 96 hits and 20 doubles. His 55 runs scored were second only to Chase Utley’s 56.

Fans can pick Victorino to join Utley, Ryan Howard, Raul Ibanez and Charlie Manuel on the field at the All-Star Game.

Despite the efforts of Phillies fans, Sandoval held a "slim lead" over Victorino, reported MLB.com.

So he and ceremonial campaign manager Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter decided to hit the pavement to drum up support. Nutter called it a "grassroots and asphalt" campaign to get Shane to St. Louis.

Chanting "Vote five times a day," Nutter and the Phillie went door-to-door, kissing babies and shaking hands for the vote.

Fans have until 4 p.m. Thursday to vote for the "Flyin’ Hawaiian" -- so vote people!

We here at NBCPhiladelphia are also having our own little vote for the Best Looking Phillie. Vote here to decide which player will take home the Golden Local.
