Temple's Golden a Top Pick for Cincinnati

Temple will play UCLA in EagleBank bowl game Dec. 29

After resurrecting Temple's football program, Owls coach Al Golden is considered one of the top candidates for the University of Cincinnati job opening.

ESPN.com reported Golden will interview for the job, but Saturday NBC10's John Clark caught up with Golden and he says he has not been contacted by Cincinnati.

β€œThere's always going to be speculation, and it's flattering because we are having success, but tonight's about this program and tonight's about these seniors, and we're going to honor those guys,” Golden told Clark at Temple’s Football Banquet.

When Clark asked Golden if he would interview for the Cincinnati job, he said, "I'm not going to comment on that."

Golden did confirm he interviewed for the Notre Dame job. His name will keep popping up for the outstanding job he has done leading Temple to their first bowl game in 30 years. Temple will play in the EagleBank Bowl against UCLA at RFK Stadium in Washington on December 29th.

One of the other top candidates for the Cincinnati job, Houston's Kevin Sumlin, has declined an interview with the Bearcats.
