Sixers Go Streaking Without Iverson

Still no A.I. as the Sixers make it four straight.

In a season that has been slow and painful for 76ers fans, a four-game winning streak serves as a shot of Novocaine.

Philly’s other hoops squad, besides anyone in the Big 5, has improved to 19-31 and are tied for tenth in the Eastern Conference.  The Sixers and Knicks were only four and a half games back of eighth-seeded Miami Heat.

The following sentence is not a typo: The Sixers could still make the playoffs.

What’s even more shocking is that the last three wins have come amid countless trade rumors and without Philly-sports-icon Allen Iverson, as he took a leave of absence to care of his sick daughter.

No problem. Insert Willie Green

Green was great stepping in for A.I., shooting a stellar 60 percent from the field while averaging 14 points in the three games covering for the 11-time All-Star.

"I don't know that we're learning something about him," Head Coach Eddie Jordan told Philly.com of the team playing without Iverson. "We're just trying to find a way to play and generate what we have to do -- good defense, quality possessions offensively."

It seems as if “The Answer” might not be the answer after all even if he is supposed to start for the East in Sunday's All-Star game.

Iverson could return Tuesday night with the Sixers host the Minnesota Timberwolves before they head north of the border to Toronto on Wednesday.
