Pronger Out With Broken Foot

Flyers defenseman expected to miss 4 to 6 weeks

The NHL-leading Flyers are going to need to stay hot without one of their stars on the ice.

Star defenseman Chris Pronger had surgery on his broken right foot and could miss four to six weeks.

Pronger went under the knife Friday to repair the broken first metatarsal in his right foot. He was hurt in Philadelphia's 5-3 victory against the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday night.

The 36-year-old Pronger was injured in the second period. He didn’t play in the third.

He has four goals and 15 points this season. Pronger was the NHL MVP in 2000 with St. Louis.

Also, Flyers defenseman Matt Walker had hip surgery on Thursday and will miss six to eight weeks.
