Phils Upset Reds Rookie's Almost Perfect Game

Reds rookie Travis Wood took a perfect game into the ninth inning before giving up Carlos Ruiz's leadoff double, and the Philadelphia Phillies stunned Cincinnati again by winning 1-0 on Jimmy Rollins' RBI single in the 11th.

Making his third big league start, Wood dominated Philadelphia's injury-depleted lineup and matched zeros for nine innings with Phillies ace Roy Halladay, who threw a perfect game of his own May 29 in Florida.

The 23-year-old left-hander was trying for the third perfecto in the majors this year - not to mention the one Detroit right-hander Armando Galarraga was denied because of a missed call at first base by umpire Jim Joyce.

The only other time there have been two perfect games in one season was 1880.
