Philly Sports Phans Should Give Thanks

Despite ties, the Sixers lack of a shooter and Billy Penn Philly Phans should be thankful this holiday season.

That is because as Phil Sheridan from the Inquirer wrote we that we should "appreciate the Phils gift to us."

Well Phil, you're right.

During tough times sports has a way of bringing people together. This Fall with the economy in crisis, 401Ks disappearing, a nation split along political lines and unemployment on the rise the collective minds and hearts of Philadelphians everywhere had a singular focus -- the phight for a championship.

Instead of talking about to depressing realities we spoke about the pitching rotation, Suga Shane Victorino and Jamie Moyer's professionalism.

In a time when the city can barely afford the traditional Mummers' strut up Broad Street we had another parade for once. And, sorry Mummers, this parade had a trophy that made everyone a winner.

So as you sit down this holiday season and count your blessings remember to include a little thanks for getting to feel like a winner (despite the Eagles' mess).

Happy Holidays.
