Phillips Helps Australia Beat France 76-67

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) — Erin Phillips scored 20 points and Liz Cambage added 19 points and 10 rebounds to help Australia beat France 76-67 on Friday night.

Phillips, who was sporting a black eye from an elbow from teammate Natalie Burton, hit four of five 3-point attempts.

Australia led 27-25 midway through the second quarter before scoring the next 14 points to blow the game open. Taylor started the burst hitting four free throws and Cayla George's jumper made it 41-25. Sandrine Gruda hit one of two free throws to end the run, but France trailed 43-26 at the break, going the final 5:46 without a basket.

France rallied a bit in the fourth quarter to cut a 24-point deficit to the final margin.

Endy Miyem scored 14 points to lead France.

Australia will play the U.S. on Sunday at Madison Square Garden in the second game of a doubleheader to close out the pre-Olympic tour. France will face Canada.
