The Phillies voted "no" for Pedro.

The team declined the $5.5 million option on third baseman Pedro Feliz' 2010 contract, making him a free agent.

Feliz, 34, batted .266 with 12 home runs and 82 RBI this season. But, he never was the 20-homer player the Phillies expected when they brought him over from the Giants before the 2008 season.

"Pete Happy" was really known for his defense.

The team wasn't ruling out the possibility of Feliz returning next season, Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro, Jr. said.

But, in a statement, Amaro said the move allows the Phillies to "explore other opportunities."
