Phillies Painting the Town Red

The Eagles’ training camp is just three days away, but somehow Philly doesn’t feel quite as green as it did in years past--Could it be that a red tide is steadily sweeping over the city?

The Phillies are riding a World Series Championship wave through Philadelphia and the fans are enjoying the swell. Monday night’s game against the Cubs marked the Phils’ 38 sellout of the season, while also propelling them past the two-million mark in attendance, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

Don’t get us wrong, there is no love lost for the Birds, but by this time the Philadelphia media is usually buzzing in anticipation for a first look at what the upcoming season has in store for the guys in green.

Instead, most Philly sports headlines seem to read: “Latest in Roy Halladay Trade Rumors.”

The Phillies' recent 10-game winning streak - their longest since 1991 - also helped quell talk of the Eagles' upcoming mini-camp.

There is no doubt that the Birds have a tenacious – and very different – squad going into the 2009-10 season, but for now our eyes are on the Phils.

But we guess that’s what bringing home the city’s first major sports title in 25 years can do for a team – turn the tide.
