Lidge Returns to Phillies, Figueroa Thinks Future

The Phillies activated reliever Brad Lidge from the disabled before Monday’s game at Atlanta.

As with any move someone had to go to make room in the bullpen for the Phillies' closer.

Righty Nelson Figueroa was the odd man out -- designated for assignment.

The 36-year-old had pitched decently posting a 1-1 record and 4.82 ERA in nine games. But he was only used sporadically since getting picked up right after opening day.

If he clears waivers Figs wasn’t sure if he would accept a move to Triple-A, according to MLB.com.

"I'd have to think about it," Figueroa said. "I do know the situation here, which is good to know. The grass isn't always greener. I've done that before. I really like the makeup of this team. I like the clubhouse, the staff, the front office, the management. Everyone has been straightforward with me from Day 1."

Figueroa will have 72 hours to decide if he accepts assignment or becomes a free agent.

In the meantime Lidge pitched a 1-2-3 eighth inning during the Phillies' 9-3 loss Monday afternoon.
