It's Time for Flyers Fans to Bring Back Peter Puck

Learn the rules of the game from an animated hockey puck from the past

Wanting to root on the Flyers but not quite sure the rules of hockey?

Here comes Peter Puck to the rescue. Learn the animated guy’s rules for hockey and your friends could forget that you just jumped on the Flyers’ bandwagon.

Peter Puck is once again teaching fans the basics of hockey thanks to the likes of YouTube and Facebook.

Mr. Puck emerged in 1974, telling fans how the game of hockey was played. With the modern Broad Street Bullies looking to take Lord Stanley’s Cup again (just like they did in ’74) now is the time to resurrect Peter Puck from the ice heap.

And, even 35-plus years after he first appeared on CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada NBC’s Hockey Game of the Week, Peter’s rules to the game still hold true -- in most cases.

For the basics check out the first Peter video. Just ignore the segment at about 2:17 about two-line passes. That rule was tossed a while ago -- Mike Richards’ legendary Game 5 goal was proof of that.

But if you really want to show off check out the second video about penalties and penalty signals. Just imagine how cool it would be to yell, “that was boarding,” just from the referee’s hand signal.

Oh yeah and let’s hope the Flyer deposit Mr. Puck in net plenty against the Blackhawks.
