PSU Wrestler Suspended From Team for DUI Allegations

A two-time NCAA wrestling champion has been suspended from Penn State's team because of drunken driving allegations.

Police say 23-year-old Ed Ruth's blood-alcohol content was more than three times the legal limit when he hit a tree while trying to park along the street Nov. 13. Online court records, which don't list an attorney for Ruth, show the charges were filed Monday.

The Centre Daily Times says Ruth declined comment on the charges and The Associated Press could not immediately reach Ruth on Tuesday.

University spokesman Pat Donghia confirmed Ruth's suspension from the team since Nov. 19 because of the drunken-driving investigation.

Ruth, who wrestles at 184 pounds, competed independently at a Lock Haven University meet on Sunday.

He can't return to Penn State's lineup until at least Dec. 15.
