It's College Hoop Night in Philly

NIT, CBI give 4 Philly teams a postseason shot all around the same time Wednesday night

Philly is ground zero Wednesday night for the other college basketball tournaments as four of the City 6 host opening round games.

Drexel was one of the biggest snubs of the NCAA Tournament as a dreadful Strength of Schedule likely cost the Dragons an at-large bid to the Dance.

At least Drexel (27-6) is still getting a chance at postseason play as they open the third-seeded Dragons NIT host Central Florida at 7:15 p.m.

At the same time No. 2 seed Saint Joe’s (20-13) host No. 7 seed Northern Iowa (19-13) across West Philly on Hawk Hill.

Fifteen minutes earlier third-seed La Salle (21-12) hosts No. 6 Minnesota at Tom Gola Arena.

In the CBI Tournament -- considered a step below the NIT (yes, it’s possible) -- Penn (19-12) hosts Quinnipiac (18-13) at 7:30 at the Palestra.

Also noting Delaware (18-13) opens CBI action at back-to-back NCAA Tournament runner-up Butler (20-14) and Princeton (20-11) already advanced with a 95-86 win over Evansville (16-16) Tuesday night.
