NHL Sends Message, Suspends Flyers' Carcillo

Daniel Carcillo was slapped with a one-game suspension.
Flyers forward Daniel Carcillo let the Pens' Max Talbot know what the butt-end of a stick looks like with seconds left in Game 1 -- a message for the Penguins to remember for the next game.
No penalty was called at the time and Talbot suffered no injury but the NHL didn't forget the incident.
The NHL suspended Carcillo for Game 2 of the Flyers series against the Pittsburgh Penguins. And, Flyers coach John Stevens must pay a $10,000 fine, said the NHL.
So what's the stink Carcillo didn't get a penalty?
The NHL explained the suspension on their Web site.
"We had a conference call Monday with the General Managers and Coaches of playoff teams and told them explicitly we would not tolerate attempts by clubs to 'send a message' late in a game when the outcome had been determined," said Colin Campbell, NHL Senior Executive Vice Presidents of Hockey Operations. "Organizations -- players and coaches -- will be held accountable for such actions."
Carcillo, 24, is a known hockey enforcer. He came to Flyers at the trade deadline this season.
