Rain Delay: Game 6 of World Series Postponed

Game 6 to be played Thursday night at 7:05

Game 6 of the World Series has been postponed due to rain.

Word came down of the delay after a conference call with MLB officials Wednesday afternoon, just a few hours before first pitch.

Rain has been steadily falling in the Gateway City for several hours Wednesday and it isn't supposed to taper off until sometime after first pitch.

In a press release, Major League Baseball said, "Given the desire to play a game of this magnitude without interruption, and an outlook with better conditions over the next two nights, Major League Baseball, along with the Cardinals and Rangers, determined that making the decision early would be the most prudent course of action to allow fans enough time to plan accordingly."

Game 6 will now be played Thursday night at 7:05 in Busch Stadium in St. Louis, weather permitting.

Game 7, if necessary, will be played Friday night in St. Louis.
