McNabb Watch: Day 2

More possible suitors in the race to land Eagles' QB

As of early Thursday Afternoon Donovan McNabb was still an Eagle -- but for how much longer would he be?

Depending on what writer/blogger/radio personality you listen to the answer could be a few more hours, a few more days or that D-Mac is staying put.

It seems that the St. Louis trade rumor from Wednesday had lost some steam but plenty of other suitors were coming to the surface.

The McNabb rumors really exploded Wednesday morning after the Inquirer’s Ashley Fox reported that head coach Andy Reid was “entertaining” offers for not only McNabb but also his backup QBs Kevin Kolb and Michael Vick.

Fast forward to later in the day and Jeff McClane’s Rams report was gaining massive steam. But soon after the Rams rumor hit a fever pitcher, McClane pulled back on the trade possibility saying a source told him a deal was “not yet completed.”

"The McNabb rumors benefited the Eagles by creating the impression that a strong market might exist for McNabb," said ESPN's Mike Sando.

He is probably right and the rumors continued into Thursday.

By Thursday morning talk of deals to Oakland, Arizona and Buffalo seemed to be gaining steam. And, so did Donovan defenders including the Inky's Stephen A. Smith who called the Eagles' treatment of McNabb "disgraceful."

The Birds at this point might have pushed McNabb so far off the edge that there will be no coming back for No. 5 but this is the NFL and often teams dangle one guys and deal another. Basically until anything is official assume that anything could happen including the Birds trading or keeping Kolb, Vick or McNabb.

"I understand the situation well and just hope whichever direction the Eagles decide to go in, they do it quickly,” said McNabb on his Yard Barker blog.

Now let’s see if the Eagles give Donovan what he wants.
