McNabb returns to practice, expected to start

Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb returned to the practice field Monday and was expected to start Sunday when the Birds host Tampa Bay.

McNabb spent the last few weeks on the mend after going down with a cracked rib in the season opener against Carolina.  He missed two games before the Eagles had their bye this past weekend.

The 11-year veteran was injured on what appeared to be a late hit after he scored a rushing touchdown in the second half of the Sept. 6 win over the Panthers.

Kevin Kolb started in place of McNabb -- posting a 1-1 record against the Saints and Kansas City. The 25-year-old QB shined, though, in the temporary starting role. He put up an impressive 391 yards with two TDs and three interceptions against New Orleans and 327 yards for two scores and added a rushing TD against the Chiefs.

Despite Kolb’s stellar stats there would be no quarterback controversy.

Kolb will return to his role as the No. 2 quarterback. Michael Vick was also expected to dress against the Bucs.

Another guy expected to be in uniform against the Bucs was injured running back Brian Westbrook. No. 36 sat out the Chiefs game with an ankle injury but seemed to be back on track Monday.

B-West practiced during Monday’s private session and should return barring any setbacks, according to the Inquirer.

It should be interesting to see what offensive packages the Eagles use Sunday with all their weapons back in the fold.
